Our son uses this watch to take his heart rate, and it works very well. He has tachycardia (fast heart beat) every once in awhile, and we like to know his heart rate when he has an episode. Even his cardiologist was impressed with how accurate this was. Plus, it looks cool for a teenager, has a great stopwatch feature and is tough. This is our second MIO for him. The first one only wore out after wearing it every day for 3 years - the pool, sports, everywhere.

Hi All,
This watch has all the features that you need: Stopwatch/timer, light, alarm, intro message and heart rate monitor.
Pros: Looks good, belt is interchangeable, no chest strap for HR, %of max HR for your age/wt,light for running at night, calorie counts, good for what you get in this price range, unisex
Cons: Can get scratched easily when you play sports, takes a while to get used to different functions, no instant HR so you have wait for about 5 seconds which sucks if you are running, not easy to get HR while running(due to finger moving and sweat on hands)
I would buy it again (was on sale), you have the facts-decision is yours.
Humility.

This is my second Mio Drive since 2008; the first one had a short after I replaced the battery. I first purchased it to train for a marathon. Its interval-timing feature for the run/walk timing works great. Getting a heart rate is very easy, even while running as long as you can keep your arms steady. I rest my wrist on my stomach while running to get a heart rate, works every time. The calorie count feature is a plus. In addition, to have fun take your heart rate during boring meetings at work. It is amazing how much your heart rate slows down when you go in to a temporary hibernation. My lowest meeting heart rate was 42 compared to resting heart rate of 48/50. I have nothing bad to say about this product other than be careful when replacing the battery. I also bought one for my son to keep time during soccer refereeing, he loves it.
