I put it on after reading instructions carefully, not difficult to understand, touch grey band wait for beep, heart rate displays, used it 4 times during exercise, worked well, fairly accurate within 5-10 beats, then 5th time, nothing, no matter where I touched the grey band, Disappointed. I returned it for exchange to see if it was just a fluke, I will update after trying new one.

I've used the Mio Vital for about a month. Pros: very easy to use; only need one finger to get a reading. Cons: occasionally difficult to get a reading, especially in cold weather. Also, occasional obviously false readings (about 3 or 4% of the time).

This is my second mio heart rate watch. I bought my first one at Costco about a year ago to replace my Polar which needed a chest strap. On that mio you didn't need a strap and could take your heart reading using two fingers. It worked fine for a while but lately started acting up in the way that it wouldn't take measurements 100% of the time. Some times you would have to take two three attempts to get it to work. Some times it just wouldn't take readings at all. So I bought another mio ( Polar still playing with straps ). On this new mio you only needed one finger. It worked like a charm. And looked better then the older model. After one week it stopped taking heart rate. I returned it to Amazone.com and got a replacement just now. So I keep my fingers crossed. Now I only use it on treadmill for about an hour two to three times a week. Besides quality issues I wish that the digits were larger and easier to read. And who needs all those timer features?
